DIY BRAKE BLEEDING - MADE EASY!
Great product. All went well, can't say any more than that!
Easy to use, didn't need to take the damper out of the stanchion, just removed the lowers to be able to cycle the damper.
The kit arrived as described and full instructions. Each stage carefully set out and easy to follow. So it should have been easy? The spring clip on top of the charger damper was impossible to get off. After many, many attempts using my brand spanking new circlip pliers failed I had to admit defeat as there was signs of damage showing to the ring. Should this minor task have been completed then the whole bleeding of the charger damper would have undoublty been successful with the help if the kit and instructions. So I cannot fully review the kit in its entirety only the service which was excellent and the instructions and bleed package.
A friend diagnosed I had a damper issue and the fix would cost me £75 to fix. Rockshox recommend the bleed after 100 hours. Mine was about that. Got the kit from EBS and a total piece of cake to do and so much more affordable. Only niggle is the circlip pliers I bought from EBS to do the job are a bit fiddly but hey, you get what you pay for. EBS make hydraulic servicing affordable and straightforward for ordinary bikers.
great kit, plus the instructions on the site are very very clear. super satisfied
The bleed kit is good quality and all you need to get the job done (besides a few simple tools that most of us have in our kit). The only issue is (I believe) with the poor lower seal on the earlier charger dampers. You can bleed and bleed and air still appears. I found losing the plunger and bleeding it passively worked quite well. And if your damper has gone so far that there's barely any oil left (again due to the poor lower seal) then a strip and rebuild would probably be better than trying to refill with oil from the bleed port.
Ordered a few things from epic before and always been spot on from order to delivery. Even got straight back to me by email when I was asking about out of stock syringes and updated their site straight away.
My forks needed on overhaul and couldn't afford to pay for a full service so thought I'd have a go myself. Have done a lower leg service before but I was a bit dubious about bleeding the charger damper. I had watched many videos on YouTube but all I needed was the sheet Epic supplied, followed it and all went well. Forks feel great and couldn't be happier. Would definitely recommend.
if you have to bleed your Rock Shox Charger Damper, this is the bleed kit you have to buy. The instructions are just a little bit cut short, so I followed the Epic BBS site for full information, otherwise I'd rate it 5 stars.
VEverything I needed, instructions were also thorough, thanks.
Very easy to use, even for me who isn't the most confident with fork servicing especially the new Pikes. Saved me a lot of money, was quoted nearly £200 from a local shop (North-East UK) to service and fix the Charger, can't fault it.
I was completely satisfied with this kit. The customer service was great and the price was right.
Just like bleeding the Avid brakes - this kit makes it easy. Just hook it up, cycle the suspension rod a few times and bleed off the air by sucking it out. Done!
Works like advertised, really good instructions included which made bleeding the charger a breeze. Really easy once you have done it once.
The guys at Epic really did do a sterling job keeping me informed when all the parts were available and went out of their way to make sure delivery to South Africa was a painless!
Thanks guys! Charles
There's no leakage on the links between the hose and the charger fitting, nor between the syringe. The hose is clear so you can see bubbles going through and is quite stiff (I left it standing up for about five minutes with a lot of fluid in it and it didn't tilt).
The rubber plunger is tight enough to not let any air past it and I wasn't quite going soft on it.
There was just enough oil to refill and bleed the charger damper - full service! (some 10 - 15 ml still in the bottle).
I did not follow (nor read for that matter) the instruction list that came with it, so no comment on that.
Great product, worked flawlessly forks feel like new again.
Found that my Pike damper was half full of air so decided to service it myself as this is really the only special tool needed. Fitted well and did the job fine, hopefully my rebuild skills will give another few months of working forks
The supplied instructions are ok once you're familiar with the process. The online instructions are a lot more in depth and easy to follow. Surprised by the amount of air that came out of a new Pike fork, but bleeding has transformed the forks.
Really simple to use, with easy to understand instructions. Much cheaper and more convenient to get hold of than the Sram one.
SRAM charge £20 for the little gold bleed tip adapter. In this kit you get the adapter, enough oil to bleed the damper many times and gloves/instructions.
Instructions were clear and concise and pretty much identical to the official ones from SRAM but only one page instead of trawling through the whole manual.
I don't see why you wouldn't buy this kit over the bleed tip adapter.
Very easy kit to use & the instructions are very clear. Two points to note, where the instructions call for the use of a 15mm cone spanner it is possible to use a regular open ended spanner & also good quality circlip pliers are a must. Another great product from Epic.
